Auki is the capital of Malaita Province, and the Solomon Islands’ second largest town, with approximately 7800 inhabitants. It is located on Malaita Island to the north-east of the main island of Guadalcanal and the nation’s capital Honiara. Tourism on Malaita is relatively untouched, with snorkelling, bird watching and surfing being the main attractions. There are a few guest houses in Auki, which is 11 kilometres from the airport on the Langa-Langa Lagoon. Solomon Airlines flies daily from Honiara, and there’s also ferry and shipping services.
We're about to visit Auki shortly, so we will have some places to stay here soon.
