The local currency used in the Solomon Islands is the Solomon Dollar (SBD or SI$). It has been in circulation since 1977 and is sub-divided into 100 cents.

It comes in the following denominations:
Notes: $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100;
Coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and $1.

For up to date exchange rates:

The main hotels and resorts throughout the Solomon Islands have Electronic Funds Transfer Point of Sale (EFTPOS) machines which accept all major bank credit cards. Some properties will also accept payment by foreign currency such as USD, AUD and Euro, or will have a currency exchange facility on the premises. For those that don’t the major towns have banks with Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs).

At shops, stores and local markets, you will need to take Solomon dollars in cash.
