The Marau Sound is a region named after the channel of water that divides a group of islands from the south-eastern end of ‘mainland’ Guadalcanal. This remote area is only accessible by air and by boat from Honiara, and by a short road network that runs along the south coast. This naturally beautiful area with stunning turquoise waters hide the fierce fighting that took place in World War 2, but has created reefs abundant with fish life that are perfect for diving and snorkelling.
